Abstract

The MEDRAP II fourth Network Steering Committee meeting took place in Byblos, Lebanon on November 3–5, 1993.

The meeting took note of the progress already achieved through various regional and national activities carried out during the current year. The meeting also considered the submitted budget reflecting updated expenditures and commitments and discussed the future allocations.

The meeting considered the institutional framework of the Networks and the commitment of GFCM in the future cooperation. The Networks Documents were reviewed and adopted after various recommendations to be reflected in their final versions.

A working group was constituted to elaborate proposals of activities ad budged for 1994–95. The financial implications were also discussed. It was stressed the urgent need to secure funding from the participating countries themselves.

At the end the meeting agreed on the next Steering Committee date and venue.

The Editor would like to thank the National Coordinator, Mr. Hratch Kouyoumjian for his effort and collaboration in making possible the successful organisation of the steering Committee in Lebanon.

Note from the reviser

The revision and publication of the document could only be done a lone time after the closure of the project. This has led to some difficulties in finalising the documents and implementing corrections, because authors and contributors as well as some of the original material or files were no longer available.

Therefore contribution from participants and session papers annexed to most of the documents were left in their original form. No language corrections were introduced, the content was not modified and left under their respective authors' responsibility.

Considering the above, we hope that the reader will understand that a standard of publication could not be maintained on a level as high as we would have like it to be.
